Do you keep these old, ugly dresses? I had some, but have long since gotten rid of them. Well, one I was going to turn one into curtains, but I don't know how to sew and it just seemed like too much trouble. I used to think the idea of a tacky bridesmaid dress party would be fun, but then realized it wouldn't be so much fun if the bride whose dress you're wearing to the party happened to be there. For the last two weddings I was in, the bride just told all the bridesmaids to wear a black, floor-length dress and let us pick one out ourselves. A trend that definitely should be encouraged. If you're going to do the thing with bridesmaids and all. I'm with Gene on weddings generally, but don't really object if someone else wants to go all out.On 5/3/06, hermespal <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:Sounds lovely. I hope there are pictures.
It doesn't, however, take a collection of bad dresses--you only need
ONE, and it sounds like you've been in enough weddings to have at
least one candidate! I think my first bridesmaid's dress was when I
was...22 or 23? It wasn't so much hideous as...cliched. It would
definitely have sufficed for such a party.

someone's grandmother, who had a suitcase full of her daughters' old
dresses. The bride wore a truly awful dress (think 80s, wide V/off
the shoulder neckline, tons of heavy beading, and wire in the
shoulder/sleeves to make them stick out. We used that to hold beer
bottles all night.
