THIS IS WHAT I'VE BEEN SAYING ALL ALONG!!!!
I was never fooled by Bush and his "uniting America" bullshit after
9-11... they always talk about the image of Bush on the slag heap with
the bullhorn and the fireman, but what I always remember about that
scene was that as Bush was talking through the bullhorn, he TURNED and
had the thing POINTED RIGHT IN THE POOR GUY'S EAR!!
"Our president," I said to my ex- as we watched that scene, "is a
buffoon."
Nothing this president EVER did tricked me for a second. I always
thought "Like Father, Like Son." Iran contra was Bush I's legacy... I
remember before the 2000 elections thinking "Well, what's THIS one
gonna do?" I find myself stunned most of the time, in a sort of "just
when you thought it couldn't get any worse" stupor.
If they don't like a law, they just go ahead and do what they want
anyway: witness their "signing statements," for instance. Their whole
attitude toward governmental checks and balances and toward the
American people can best be summed up by that scene a few years ago
with Cheney on the Senate floor. "Go f*ck yourself." They're gonna do
what they want, so go f*ck yourself.
I feel numb from the last six years, really.
Anyway... one reason I don't appreciate this writer's apology is that
HE'S ABOUT TWO YEARS TOO LATE WITH IT!!!!! Where were people like this
BEFORE the last election? I know where they were: yammering about
Saddam's WMDs and how we shouldn't change presidents during wartime
and about Kerry's "flip-flopping."
Lying lying lying lying lying, with the full backing of their
propaganda wing, Fox News.
People like the person who wrote this apology voted this bunch in for
a second term... and NOW they're sorry??? There should have been no
NEED to apologize, as far as I'm concerned.
We're going to have a hell of a mess to clean up once this bunch is
out of office. Just remember: it's still OUR COUNTRY. And as a
diplomat was quoted as saying in MACLEAN'S recently, "there's nothing
wrong with the United States' image abroad that an UNDER NEW
MANAGEMENT sign in the window wouldn't fix."
"I said it before and I'll say it again: no message from any phony
politician is coming through to me." --John Lennon
I love my country and I can't stand to see it treated like this.
