I love your snake story, Ashley! I read those "Animal Welfare" stories in the Arlington/Alexandria Extra section every week. I think it's an example of great humor writing squished into two or three sentences. Can't wait to see how this one is told! Here's a link to an example, although these aren't too funny:

I stopped reading the "soap opera" comics a few years ago, and yes, it was a LOT of effort to skip them. I still occasionally read Mark Trail, just because it's there and once I start on the first panel, I finish it.
I like Get Fuzzy and PBS, but sometimes I just don't get Fuzzy. I wonder why Rob doesn't get rid of Bucky when the cat does something especially cruel to Satchel. But I keep reading.
I went down to Charlottesville for my college reunion this past weekend and caught the last few minutes of the Tom DeLuca hypnotist show, where he hypnotizes audience members and has them do all sorts of (safe, legal, not too embarassing) stuff on stage. It is hilarious - but as he says, it's really just the hypnotized people who are providing the entertainment. Why is this so funny? Context of them not realizing they're on stage? Tom's timing of the stunts? Anyone want to analyze this kind of humor? (Also saw another hypnotist at the DC Improv a while ago and it was great - not as good as Tom DeLuca, but worthwhile).
