Well apparently not everyone is aware of it. Were some people in the story using their real names? I couldn't tell. Doesn't it defeat the purpose if the parents know what's raelly going on? If homosexuality is unacceptable, telling your parents that you're gay but you'll marry a lesbian just to keep up with appearances doesn't seem to solve the problem, unless the parents are OK with the gay thing but they are worried about everyone else. But usually it is parental pressure. Part of the reason for getting married in that culture is to have kids. I can't imagine these people raising kids together and not with their lover. But whatever.
