ok.  i've thought it over, and i'm not afraid to admit: i was wrong.

i wasn't grasping the central tenet of the question, not that sex was 
owed, but that there would be expectations there and the guy would be 
miffed if they were not met.  agreeing to go to madrid and share a bed 
with you doesn't guarantee sex (you might turn out to be total asshole 
in a foreign light) but you sure should expect it.  shoot, i expect sex 
all the time on domestic soil.

anyway, if she's not putting out, i return to my other point which is 
that spaniards are hot, and the guy will do ok for himself anyway.
