My guess...he decided to try to be subtle about it, he'd probably worked out a whole series of interior cues that would bring out the slight Latverian (which is no where to be found on that geography quiz), but since he had no control over the editing process, it just came out inconsistent.

The only neat thing about the Fantastic Four as a concept was that they were publicly known as superheroes.  A comic book movie about moral responsibility and the temptations of fame, could have been done well.

I also plugged in for the first twenty minutes of Phantom of the Opera.  Please tell me they all die at the end.

I'm one of the lucky many that hasn't seen Craptastic Four, and never,

make great punishment.

But, about Julian McMahon, he's an Aussie, and in Nip/Tuck his voice
isn't nearly as annoying. I always though he sounded, well, smooth.
Smooth in a way that neither my flat-as-Nebraska (my home state)
accent, nor my adopted North Carolina Agricultural drawl (current
residence) could EVER emulate. So, I guess it's kinda sad to hear
that he was using some sort of screwey accent, especially since he
has, to me, one of those voices I could just sit and listen to. Of
course, considering the film, maybe it's his way of commenting on the
whole mess, while still being able to pick up a paycheck...
