*sigh* I miss Bill.
He didn't know it, but he's pretty much single-handedly responsible for me being a stand-up for a few years. I was at Towson doing some post-grad work in the mid-90s and figured "I'm a funny guy. I should try stand up." This one kid was ridiculously funny, and he sold me some jokes, said they're guaranteed to be killer. I got up at an open mic night in Baltimore, did the jokes I had bought, and got yelled at by one of the other comics at the end of the night. I thought I had been funny; he told me I was a thief! Apparently, I did a near word-for-word rendition of "Rant in E-Minor." I was stunned - stunned that I had been duped, and stunned I had somehow never seen or even heard of Bill Hicks. How did he manage to escape my radar? I've become a big Hicks' fan ever since, and secretly wish naughty things on Denis Leary. He did the same thing I did, but got an HBO special out of it. - Ray --- In [email protected], "Hannah Robinson" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > I've been listening to Arizona Bay and this bit made me laugh the hardest: > > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bP-3_jyCS9Q > > (The video's meaningless, don't worry about it) > Yahoo!
