well Bill Hicks isn't around to have an HBO series and/or special.
He might have had he lived long enough. I read Denis Leary's wife's
book, An Innocent, A Broad, about them going to London for the
weekend when she was 6 months pregnant with their first child, and
her water broke while she was there. The baby was born 3 months
early and they couldn't fly for like 5 months, so a weekend in London
turned into a 5-month stay with a premature baby. She wrote the book
14 years after the fact so obviously it had a big impact on her life.
Denis realized how much it affected the rest of her life and
encouraged her to write the book. Actually that is how he got his
start--being stuck in London for 5 months with not much to do so he
wrote his first show No Cure for Cancer and it premiered at the
Edinborough Fringe Festival and he was a big hit. I highly recommend
the book. It's very sweet.
