yeah that would be it. I don't know why I'm advertising my lack of basic knowledge in this forum and just reinforcing whatever pre- existing opinions people may have had of me, but I guess I didn't realize quite how ignorant I was until I joined this group. I spent high school studying for the purpose of passing tests in order to graduate and get into college, not for the purpose of actually LEARNING anything, and I suspect I'm not the only one. Then 20 years later you vaguely remember taking a course in American history and realize all these names and events sound familiar but you can't remember what the people actually did or the significance of the events. And don't get me started with British/European history. Britain has about 700 more years' worth of history to keep straight. The language may be more or less the same, but if you don't know who William and Mary were your branded as a foreigner immediately.
