I didn't think this warranted further explanation, but on average, men
are taller than women, and there is a mild taboo about tall women
dating shorter men. I've heard stories of tall women complaining about
short women dating tall men and thus shrinking the pool of available
men who are taller than they are. Hence, the creation of tall-persons
organizations, just as there are groups for just about every other
human detail.
Short men, I suppose, have a similar problem; recall how much mirth was
made about Tom Cruise's stature when he was dating Nicole Kidman....
