yes it should be 4 C's.  letters and numbers take apostrophes for 
plurals to prevent confusion.  There were 27 2's on the list.  Not, 
there were 27 2s on the list.  Otherwise some people might think it is 
pronounced 2 ess or something like that.  Same for letters.  4 Cs might 
be interpreted as 4 C ess.  So I've been told.  I would stick with 4 
C's.  I think also letters and numbers don't usually take possessives 
since they don't usually "have" (possess) anything. Also I just finally 
figured out that possess and possessive have 4 S's in them.  I have had 
about a 50% success rate with those words--figured I would use 3 S's 
half the time and 4 S's the other half to cover my bets--then I would 
have a 50% chance of getting it right.  But of course in school 50% is 
a failing grade, so obviously that strategy (or strategery) wasn't 
going to work in the long run.  So thanks Daria for forcing me to learn 
how to spell those words correctly once and for all.
