whew! i survived xmas! turns out i had nothing to worry about - his mother was totally sweet and actually spoke a little bit of english and didn't really mind about my mother's age... (my mother has helped him with a LOT of things so she was actually grateful) my family dinner was rescheduled/relocated to my other aunt's house and my mother's husband and his mother didn't go so she wasn't subjected to my schizo aunt and my other aunt didn't get drunk!! it was actually a quiet and pleasant xmas! (and no tofu turkey tho we DID have sauerkraut soup - a traditional slovak xmas soup - which wrecked havoc on my stomach...)
