Thanks for the good thoughts. Sadly, no, they are not all the same
person. It's six, including my Mother and now my step-father as well,
who was her primary caretaker until this week and he is now failing
fast. I won't go into detailed updates because it's all so damned
depressing and you guys don't deserve that! Additionally, it looks
like I'm about to make another extended trip back to Massachusetts, 
which I'm dreading but don't have much choice with both of them in
such bad shape. 

Sigh. I know some of you have been through the dying parent thing.
Anyone with any practical advice please feel free to email me -- I'm
pretty ignorant about what I'm about to face.
