Wonderful (!) to have a diagnosis, and yes it is hopeful - most 
bipolar people can be treated successfully.  My younger daughter is 
on lithium, and I know a number of people who are also bipolar.  (And 
a lot of people I suspect of same.)  (And, of course, it's 'only' an 
exaggeration of 'normal' emotional ups and downs.)

Thing is - when you are feeling better, don't do the "I'm okay now 
and no longer need my meds" thing.  It's like being diabetic.

Hey, and Daria, being an internet person you'll be able to find on-
line support groups...
