Submitted a dozen times a couple of years ago, but got disillusioned
when I only got ink a couple of times.

Decided to really go for it starting his spring, & have had better
luck/success. Now I'm addicted.

Have only been to 2 events - the most recent Flushies & an impromptu
LoserLunch. Am in just 1 photo in the Flushies.

Very funny people in that group. I'd say most (like me) are more on the
quiet side, & funny only on paper after several rewrites. But there are
a few (Steve Dudzik, Kyle Hendrickson, Dave Zarrow) who are so quick on
their feet that it's an absolute riot going to those events.

The Empress is terrific in person. And I dunno how she does it - puts
the SI together all on her own just 2 days a week (the other 3 days
she's a copy editor for "Style"). Had 20,000 entries to comb through a
coupla weeks back.

Ellen, are you *this* Ellen Goodman - she of the Boston Globe & the
Pulitzer Prize for commentary?

If so, wow.

I take it you know Gene & Pat personally?

Randy is a big-time loser. I see his name in there several times each
week.

Are you a SI loser too? Are you in some of the pix, or were you at
some of the events but not actually in the pix? There are a lot of
pix so I didn't look at all of them. Out of respect for Gene I was
just going along with the "joke" or secret or whatever it is. But
PtheP is obviously much more blase about the whole thing. When Gene
said he slept with the Czarina (or sleeps with her on a regular basis)
that pretty much removed all doubt. If you think he's busy now imagine
how time consuming the Invitational is! I think it would be a great
job but you have to be pretty meticulous to go through all those
entries and then make a subjective decision with objective criteria.
Or something like that. PtheP is beautiful IMO by the way.
