No I'm not that Ellen Goodman, although everyone asks me. She's 26
years older than me and Goodman is her ex-husband's last name, so I
had the name first. Although especially when I lived in Brookline, MA
I used to receive her email, phone calls, and regular mail. Favorite
anecdote-I was in a bookstore outlet once and I came across a
collection of her columns which I bought for $5 or something (still
have it) so I went to the cashier and gave her my credit card. She
looked at it and looked at the author of the book and said, "you're
the author!" I replied that sadly I was not, and if I was I probably
wouldn't have to buy my own book years after it was written from the
bargain bin. Just a hunch. No I don't know PtheP or Gene personally
(I should be so lucky). I was commenting on PtheP's appearance from
the pix and Gene's insistence on the anonymity of the Czar and Empress
from his columns and chats. He said several times that he has slept
with the Czar's wife, aka the czarina.
