Three teenagers trying to rob a food shop were scared
off when the owner threw a ham at them. The 61-year-old
from Gainsville in Georgia then punched one in the
stomach and chased them from the shop. Two 17-year-
olds have been charged with attempted robbery and a
16-year-old is being held at a youth detention centre.
Shopkeeper Morris McClure said: "They didn't get anything.
I've worked too hard to give up my money to three punks
like that."
A Romanian is advertising to swap the vault where his
wife is buried for a second-hand car. Constantin Neacsu
bought the tomb after she died and had planned on
eventually joining her. Three years on the 62-year-old
has met a 25-year-old woman and decided he wants
to live for the present. There is room for at least one
more coffin above where his wife is buried in the vault
in Ploiesti. There are no laws in Romania forbidding
the selling of part-filled vaults.
The body of an Egyptian farmer has been found in a
cow's stomach. It was discovered by a man who was
trying to strip the cow's carcass to sell for leather.
Police in Sharkiya believe the man was killed and
stuffed inside the dead cow which was then stitched
up and dumped at the roadside. They say he was
strangled in his sleep. A man and woman have been
charged with murder, reports the Egyptian Algomhuria
paper. Murder carries the death penalty in Egypt.
