 WEIRD NEWS
-------------------------------------------------------------

A man in Germany, who took his girlfriend hostage, down-
graded his ransom demands from 10,000 and a car to
a crate of lager and two packs of cigarettes. The 23-year-
old threatened to kill his 26-year-old girlfriend after taking
her hostage at knife-point in Germany. The siege ended
peacefully after a police psychologist intervened and he
was overpowered by officers when he went to the front door
to collect his beer.

A gang in Germany are holding trees 'hostage' by threatening
to chop them down if their owners don't hand over hundreds
of pounds. Police say adverts in Hanover claim the gang will
take on every kind of garden work at a reasonable price. But
when they show up as arranged, the men take out chainsaws
and threaten to cut down trees if they aren't given money. One
woman has already lost two trees for failing to find the money
in time.

A newly-wed couple in Malaysia had to call an ambulance
when they discovered they couldn't disengage after having sex.
The more anxious they became the more difficult it was for
them to pull apart. The couple, in their 20s, finally contacted
a medical centre for help. Paramedics persuaded them to
relax and they were separated. To add to their embarrassment,
neighbours and other villagers in Taiping were alerted to their
situation by the presence of the ambulance late at night.

Two monkeys have married in a Romanian village after
a 'whirlwind romance'. Villagers organised the ceremony
to unite Jimmy and Luiza who had been friendly for a few
weeks. Guests say the monkey bridegroom was scared
by the number of people attending the 'wedding' and refused
to get out of his cage, but his bride enjoyed every minute of it.
The newspaper Cotidianul, reports she only appeared to
have problems with her veil and dress. The guests, including
the mayor, toasted the union with strong plum brandy before
taking the bride on a parade through the streets of Feleacu.
They carried on the celebrations at a pub and the bride was
taken to her new husband's cage at night.

 FUNNY QUOTES
------------------------------------------------------------

"I know the difference between sadist and masochist... but
you're going to have to beat it out of me."
- Scott Leiter

"I think a good way to get into a movie is to show up where
theyre making the movie, then stick a big cactus plant onto
your buttocks and start yowling and running around. Everyone
would think it was funny, and the head movie guy would say,
'Hey, lets put him in the movie.'"
- Jack Handey

"If you ever get your tongue stuck to a flagpole, the best
way to handle the situation is to take off all your clothes.
Then people will say, 'Hey, look at the naked guy!' instead
of, 'Hey, look at the idiot with his tongue stuck to a
pole!'."
- Craig Stacey

 USER TIP
------------------------------------------------------------

"Hard Drive or Hard Disk"

Common name for the disk drive you store your files on
inside the computer case. It runs 'round and 'round like
a record on a record player. It has a pickup arm similar
to those on record players. (Who's seen a record player
lately? Anyone?)

The hard disk twirls at about 5,000 RPM. Faster drives
spin at around 7,500 RPM. No matter how fast the processor
is, it still has to wait on the hard drive.

One more thing: if you download anything and aren't sure if
you should "save to disk" or "open from current location",
always save to disk. That's your hard drive we're talking
about. If you open from the current location, it won't be
saved on your computer. Makes sense, I hope!

There are so many Wonderful things you can do with your
computer, and we will show you, Newbie or Expert, how.
