A professor showed a skinned human corpse to shoppers
in Glasgow after his exhibition was banned. Gunther von
Hagens was protesting against censorship of his Body
Worlds exhibition. Council officials had told the German
academic to move from his original venue outside
Strathclyde University's Student Union. They feared
the exhibition would offend recently bereaved people
going to a nearby register office to report their loved
ones' deaths. He then took a corpse, standing by its
own lungs and intestines, to George Square and
remained there for an hour before police moved him on.
A US woman has been kicked out of a bar for not drinking.
Karen Ellis was asked to leave a karaoke night she
regularly attends with friends. Bar owner Jim Wong says
he has bills to pay and can't let someone go to the bar
to just drink a Pepsi all night.
A couple have tied the knot in hospital after being blown
off the Washington mountain where they were due to marry.
Charles Grubbs and Melody Wyman wanted to get married
at the top of Mount Rainier. But high winds blew them and
their minister into a crevasse about 2,500 feet short of
the summit. All three were pulled to safety by guides and
flown to St Joseph Medical Centre in Tacoma. Hospital
chaplain Fred Hutchinson eventually conducted the
wedding ceremony.
