Hi, i have a few doubts too.
Since we might need to deal with ts files, i was trying to update the
pt_BR translation from po file.
The way the ts file should be: (note the file name and line number)
<message>
<location filename="../imaccount/AIMSettings.ui" line="16"/>
<source>AIM/ICQ Settings</source>
<translation>Paramètres AIM/ICQ</translation>
</message>
If i convert the po file to ts file using po2ts, i'm not going to have
these information:
<message>
<source>
AIM/ICQ Settings
</source>
<translation>
Configurações do AIM/ICQ
</translation>
</message>
And lupdate fails to update the file the way the other ts files are. So,
i suppose you guys have done this using another approach.
<message>
<location filename="" line="137779644"/>
<source>
AIM/ICQ Settings
</source>
<translation type="obsolete">
Configurações do AIM/ICQ
</translation>
</message>
In the wiki, i only found information about the translation toolkit
(ts2po). Anyone can give me more information? Is there a merge somewhere?

msgfmt: too many errors, aborting
The .pot has lots of empty msgid strings (even though I don't think the
first one is actually empty, from my understanding of gettext).
In fact, in the .ts files which generate this, we have quite a lot of
these (example in qtwengophone_fr.ts):
395 <context>
396 <name>AvatarFrame</name>
397 <message>
398 <source>Form</source>
399 <translation>Formulaire</translation>
400 </message>
401 <message>
402 <source></source>
403 <translation type="unfinished"></translation>
404 </message>
405 </context>
...
417 <context>
418 <name>AvatarWidget</name>
419 <message>
420 <source>Form</source>
421 <translation>Formulaire</translation>
422 </message>
423 <message>
424 <source></source>
425 <translation type="unfinished"></translation>
426 </message>
427 </context>
...
497 <context>
498 <name>ChatContactListItem</name>
499 <message>
500 <source></source>
501 <translation></translation>
502 </message>
503 </context>
etc.
These correspond to the following in the .pot (there are lots more, but
there's no point in listing them all):
228 #: AvatarFrame#2
229 msgid ""
230 msgstr ""
...
256 #: AvatarWidget#2
257 msgid ""
258 msgstr ""
...
320 #: ChatContactListItem#1
321 msgid ""
322 msgstr ""
These appear to correspond to text entry elements of the GUI - for
example, this is in AvatarWidget.ui:
41 <property name="text" >
42 <string/>
43 </property>
Can someone explain to me how translations work with qtdesigner? How can
I mark these text entries as non-translatable? Or remove them from the
forms? There are 29 of these in the .ts file.
Cheers,
Dave.
