I finished the re-write of the markdown awk script some time ago and
after some testing I think it is ready for general use. Please be
careful, because there could still be some bugs. It should be
compatible with current markdown documents, but it does not handle
every corner case in the same way (I have considered that those corner
cases are not worth the trouble, but YMMV).

The last version can always be found in the mercurial repository at:

In the following days I will start a new branch to add new features:
tables, and maybe centered text, list headers and line breaks.
Suggestion are welcomed.
