Follow-up Comment #3:
This seems to be caused by unit events (which are used to implement the
growth ability) not working across several scenarios correctly. If I get a
ghast and kill something with it, the growth works, but if I get a ghast,
advance to the next scenario, recall it and kill something with it, it
doesn't. I haven't tested extensively to be able to say when exactly it works
and when not, but it seems to be something along these lines.
Unit events cannot be found anywhere in savefiles, so my guess is that
they're added to the scenarios only "internally" in C++ when such a unit is
created, but this doesn't get done when recalling the unit, for example.
