Follow-up Comment #2, bug #9148 (project wesnoth):

I disagree that knowing/entering the ip address is very reasonable.  If I try
to setup a game in my dorms, I have to call every person and tell them the ip.
 Not only that, but I guarantee that of the five or so friends I have playing
this, only two of us know how to look up our ip address.

Look at other popular multiplayer games, such as Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of
War.  You simple click on local games, and it gives you a list of games being
served on the local network.  Plain and simple: it *can* be automated, and it
*is* a greater convenience for the user.

I'm not trying to press this as urgent, but I think it would be a good
feature. (Alas! If only I had the time to branch out from Python and learn
C++!)
