Follow-up Comment #4:
Marking it Fixed because we've done what we can and solved the problem in
practical terms. The vagaries of Windows networking stacks are not something
we can address.
I'll look for a good place in the docs to put a warning about the underlying
problem, in case even compressed saves get so bulky that it recurs.
