Follow-up Comment #3, bug #10926 (project wesnoth):
This is a resurfacing of bug#9517. Even though bug#9517 is marked fixed, it
must have re-surfaced because I ran into this bug using wesnoth 1.3.19! I am
using Macbook OSX 1.3.19, wesnoth 1.3.19.
I've attached a savegame & a screen capture. Load the savegame, then use the
white mage to attack the unit above it. If the mage loses, the game will
crash.
Here's the error message from the OSX console.

error general: An error due to possible invalid WML occured
The error message is :
An invalid weapon is selected, possibly by the Python AI.
When reporting the bug please include the following error message :
Condition 'attacker_weapon < static_cast<int>(attacker.attacks().size())'
failed at
/Users/gio/Desktop/wesnoth-1.3.19/MacCompileStuff/../src/actions.cpp:250 in
function 'battle_context'.
