Follow-up Comment #1, bug #11416 (project wesnoth):
[variation] is supposed to have an inherit= field that defaults to no and is
used in unit_type.cpp when true, config is merged with the parent
if false, the config replace the parent
this is supposed to work for gender too
but apparently it's broken,
check how unit.cpp handle the [variation]
