Details:

Make an event that triggers just before a unit brings up an attack selection
screen and then another event that triggers if that screen is canceled. I
call this "consider attack" and "unconsider attack," but there are probably
terms out there.

Imagine if you want to make an ability for a unit to effect the attack of
adjacent units somehow, in unconventional ways. For example, any unit next to
a "Tactician" gets granted a fire attack. Currently, AFAIK, that's impossible.
What I've done is make it so units that start their turn next to a Tactician
benefit from it. Moveto events could also work, but that would get really
messy.

If there was a "consider attack" even, that fire attack could be added to the
unit and would show up in the selection screen. The "unconsider attack" event
would take the fire attack away.

This also would work with many potential aura abilities that could be done,
but they wouldn't show in the attack selection screen. For example, a "Fog"
ability could grant adjacent units 20% bonus to terrain defense, and it can
currently be applied to units on an attack event, but it wouldn't show in the
calculation of attack selection screen.
