Follow-up Comment #5, bug #12683 (project wesnoth):
If I disable compressed saves, it displays a message that autosave failed
instead of freezing.
Anyway, ability to store userdata in user's My Documents is added in trunk.
Installer for next 1.5 release will make use of it.
