Vision was never blocked by enemies (in all versions). If you noticed a case
where it happened, please submit another bug about that.
There is maybe one change in 1.6 related to what you describe and which could
possibly confuse a 1.4 user:
1.5.12 changelog:
* Now clear fog/shroud before an attack when doing a move+attack action
Before that, the shroud was cleared only at the end of the fight (and never
if your unit died, thus the change). So, an 1.4 user was maybe used to see a
shroud update after killing the enemy, but that was never because his view
was blocked, it was just a late update after its unit's move.
Maybe try to do a separate move to go near the unit before attacking, you
will see that the shroud is now updated in the same way and order as when
doing a move+attack.
