Follow-up Comment #3, bug #13577 (project wesnoth):
Per "Works for me", I attempted to reproduce it on another machine ...
Clean install od 1.7.0 on Macbook Pro laptop (OS X 10.5.7), no extensions.
Started "Under the Burning Suns" & could not (initially) reproduce the bug.
After a couple hours of play, however, it did start occurring but only very
intermittently.
--> perhaps this is a consequence of a memory leak ??

Reading the forum post, yes, this looks like the same bug.
