Thanks for the savegame. The problem is indeed what I thought, the game
contains invalid pango markup. The problem will be "solved" in 1.7.3. Solved
as in the game proceeds but won't use the markup.
I'll reassign the bug to the maintainer of LoW so the markup can be properly
fixed.
