Follow-up Comment #2, bug #14969 (project wesnoth):
I actually thought of that, but rejected it because the parentheses and
dollar sign didn't show up in the strings. I reasoned that the engine *was*
correctly treating those as operators. (I still don't understand what it's
doing with those characters.) Also, $(1+$x) concatenates, and $($x+1) returns
nothing. This seemed like a mistake.
