Follow-up Comment #4, bug #16243 (project wesnoth):
The situation is getting complicated. If I understand what you are saying,
the host modifies its scenario but sends the unmodified scenario, the clients
receive the unmodified scenario and modify it, every players save modified
scenarios, except for the server which saves an unmodified scenario.
In other words, it is a stroke of luck that the issue went unnoticed till
now; there were so many other things that could have broken. (Though, if they
had broken, we wouldn't be in the current situation, so it is rather bad
luck.)
So, your patch is correct, but only for replays that were taken on the
server. I don't know if there is a way to differentiate them from normal
replays though.
Convert-to-preload seemed like a good idea at the time, reusing existing code
and all that, but it has gotten out of hand. I guess I should get rid of the
whole thing for 1.9. It will be painful to preserve backward compatibility
though.
