Indeed, and I'm able to reproduce it too now. But this code path is only a
few weeks old. (And at least for Linux, I wouldn't be surprised if the bug
was two days old only.) So, while having the same symptoms, I think this bug
is completely unrelated to the original one. If you could post a backtrace of
1.8 crashing, it would be a great help.

Note that the current issue is not about res. It's expected that a Lua script
returns an error status if it is abruptly interrupted by the user. The
segfault comes from the unexpected absence of an error message in the m
variable.
