Follow-up Comment #10:
The crash happens because for some reason a corrupted size 2 cache file is
created.
This happens only if wesnoth is using boost 1.44 which 1.9.0 windows release
happens to use. I've also reproduced the bug on linux using the same boost
version, but everything is fine with boost 1.41
