Follow-up Comment #11, bug #16299 (project wesnoth):
I found a way to do it with 1.9.9 too:
Step 1: Start two 1.9.9 Wesnoth clients (client A and B), join a 1v1 game on
a server with both clients, start the game
Step 2: Client A recruits a bunch of units, ends turn; Client B does the
same; Client A moves a unit towards Client B's side, ends turn; Client B moves
his units into vision of client A's unit, ends turn
Step 3: press ESC on client B but don't confirm yet; Client A can move units
around now, ends turn; Client B confirms to leave the game now; Client A takes
control of B's side
Result: It's even worse than on 1.8 now. All units of client B's side don't
have their movement points refreshed and the side got no gold income (the turn
wasn't initialised properly), so the game can't be continued normally from
here. Additionally even though client A has control of client B's side, it
still has the vision of the original side A but can move around the units from
B (if they are in vision and had still mp left). There seems to go something
wrong when taking control here...
