Concerning blindfold replays:
I guess the observer cannot chat / see the chat until he gets the side
control?
The player and especially the host should be warned that a blind observer is
coming, probably in the chat area.
And if you don't mind to make things more complicated you could add a textbox
near the 'blind replay' checkbox in the game lobby. It would serve for one
chat message, like "I am Ice, I was orange".
