Follow-up Comment #1, bug #22539 (project wesnoth):
the assertion here is a known bug. simply removing the assertion in the code
(replacing with a comment why that assertion is wrong) will fix.
do you have an empty (null-controlled) side 1 in the scenario? in that case a
side=<any non-null-controlled side> might fix it.
