thanks for your quick reply.

On Gentoo Linux, the "nls" flag controls whether to support foreign languages,
or (as you explained for Wesnoth) not to install locale files. Because I don't
need multiple language support, nls is disabled for my system. Up until
Wesnoth 1.10.7 everything was fine since gettext is nevertheless installed as
part of the base system. In 1.12 this behavior has changed. I need to (and
already have) enabled nls for boost due to the new dependency.

My question is, whether I need to keep this exception for boost to run Wesnoth
indefinitely. I would really appreciate not to have an exception for boost
with nls.
