Follow-up Comment #1, bug #23194 (project wesnoth):
maybe this could be simply implemented in wml/lua as an addon? wml can already
register custom hotkeys. Wml can not register console commands yet, but there
is a feture request for it: http://gna.org/bugs/index.php?22609
(it says debug command but there is no reason that it should be debug only)
