Follow-up Comment #2, bug #24357 (project wesnoth):

I think this is related to the way gettext and boost processes the locale for
the chosen language. I'm looking at dgettext() (line 641 of
boost/locale/message.hpp), called from get_localized_path() (line 452 of
image.cpp).

When I select French, dgettext() returns 'fr', which is correct. But of the
aforementioned languages which don't work, they just return the input
'language code for localized resources^en_US', which gets broken down to
'en_US'.

So in the end, the langs vector in get_localized_path() is either
[<correct_language>, en_US] or [en_US, en_US]. The former allows the correct
logo text to be used, while the latter reverts to the standard English text.

I tried having a look at 1.12.x, but of the available logo languages, all of
them are included in the aforementioned working languages.

Does anyone know how gettext/boost are supposed to work? Is it possible
dgettext() is a problem out of our control? For reference I am using boost
1.60.
