This was mentioned in another thread, but I think it's worth discussing in its own thread.
The idea of using Boost (http://www.boost.org) in Wesnoth has been mentioned. Overall I am generally in favor of the idea, though I do have a few reservations: - anyone wanting to compile Wesnoth would have to work out how to set up Boost. Boost has its own build system, and this would make it somewhat more complicated to get Wesnoth working. - there are a wide range of features available in Boost. I should think that we should agree to use a subset of them, and only add new features upon approval. For instance, I don't think someone should start using the Boost Graph Library to write a heap of AI code until we have made a conscious decision to use that particular part of Boost in Wesnoth. I will also mention that I talked some time ago with David Turner at the FSF and he said there are absolutely no problems with using Boost with GPLed code. Any other thoughts on the matter?
