18:25 <freim> medieval folklore != DnD
18:25 <Soliton> freim: no ones proclaiming universal truths, obviously
it's just what the majority of developers thinks
18:26 <freim> Soliton: if you say so
18:26 <noy> REALLY freim ?
18:26 <noy> I disagree with that completely
18:26 <freim> are you kidding me?
18:26 <noy> I think I can ask the same question

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sources_and_influences_on_the_development_of_Dungeons_%26_Dragons
http://www.geocities.com/rgfdfaq/sources.html

I believe these sources shows that DnD draws inspiration from folklore
and litterature from all over the world, and from sources spanning far
wider in timespan than just medieval times. Thus saying that DnD ==
medieval folklore isn't an accurate statement.

Furthermore DnD is a rather ambiguous term to use in the context of our
discussion as it encompasses a large number of settings, which varies
wildly as to how much it relates to medieval folklore if at all.
