Hi everybody!
I just wanted to tell you that I plan to tag 1.6.5 on Sunday. I would like this
one to be the last release in the 1.6.x stable series. If you got anything left
that should go into that series, please make sure to commit it ASAP.

Since 1.6.x is soon to be "basically done" (at least from my point of view) it
is time to plan for 1.8.x. In general (or theory? ;) ) we wanted to try a 6
month release cycle. Since the last release was in March, we should "soon"
release 1.8.x if we really want to hold to the old plans. Releasing it in
September will not work, though maybe October is possible?
What do you currently have left? This is what I see should be considered:
* There are *many* bugs open at the moment. Well above 60 bugs IIRC. I think we
really should reduce the list of open bugs before 1.8 is out.
* I want to have at least a 6 week string freeze. I already told translators to
start working on things that we know are basically done (most campaigns), but a
string freeze is a whole lot different.

Please tell me what you see as open points that have to be tackled before we can
release 1.8. What do you think is a realistic timeline?

Cheers,
Nils Kneuper aka Ivanovic
