-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi everybody! Todays topic is a followup from FOSDEM. There gnutoo came around with some mobile devices. One of those was using the utterly broken (and because of this basically unusable) tinygui version. Since there is no developer who feels responsible for this I do propose that we completely remove support of it. Some more information about this part of fosdem is available at [1].
Negative regarding removal: * No more support for resolutions smaller than 800x480 (resolutions down to 800x480 are supported using the --smallgui switch and is required eg for the N900 or the pandora). Positive: * tinygui is basically a hack. It does eg scale down all frames from 72x72 to 36x36 relying on imagemagick. This makes the images look fuzzy, TC not working any more and things like this. Besides the GUI itself was not created with smaller resolutions in mind and might be completely broken at several places. Once all work on GUI2 is done (no timeline for this available) it could be added back in. With GUI2 it should be possible to (more easily) define an alternative layout for smaller resolutions. Once we do have OpenGL (adding support is still some general plan, no idea when it might be done!) the size of the graphics should not be this much of a problem, since things could be zoomed in/out more easily. If there is no comment regarding "oh no, you musn't remove this because of ABC" combined with "I'll work on fixing things" in the next week I'll start to work on removing this support from the game in trunk.
