Hi, At the moment we require pango version 1.14.8. 1.14.8 is quite outdated, Debian stable has version 1.28.3 so would like to make this the minimal version. This reason for the bump is to remove the conditional code in text.cpp, it tests for older versions in several locations. Since I don't expect developers to use these ancient version, making changes in this part of the code might break older versions without notice.
