Hello again, everybody,

Here's another update on the 1.12 release plan. The next release will be this Friday, October 24. This will be RC2, as we are not quite ready for 1.12.0 yet. However, the goal is to get 1.12.0 out shortly thereafter. In particular, we are trying for no later than Wednesday, November 5 which is the feature freeze date for the next Debian stable.

Below is the list of bugs which we are still trying to fix before then, as well as their status. As you can see, we have a pretty good handle on all but two of those by now. If you have any comments, objections or bugs to add, please speak up very soon. Also, any help with fixing the remaining two would be fantastic.

The 1.12 release announcement [1] is pretty much ready and will be frozen in no more than 48 hours. If you see anything missing, please let us know right away as well.

Cheers and thanks,
Matthias / mattsc

-------------------------------------------------

Bugs still to be fixed before the 1.12.0 release:

- File system errors in Windows if there are unicode characters in the path or file name. gfgtdf and iceiceice have this mostly figured out and committed in the master branch for testing. The goal is to have this merged into 1.12 by this Friday's release of RC2. See also [2].

- Legend of Wesmere: fabi's mostly done with those, they just need some testing
- Some maps are oddly shifted (bug #22073) (fabi)
- Olurf does not appear in “Elves’ Last Stand” (fabi)
- Scenario 14 is broken, too many sides (bug #21941), and being rebalanced: (fabi)

- Multiplayer scenario start saves are broken (bug #22068): fixed in master, but not in 1.12 (several people have looked into this and we have partial fixes, but it is not entirely solved yet)

- Add-ons Manager Filter box and Options button too close to listbox (bug #22791): not really a must-fix, but in the worst case it can be fixed by reverting a commit (shadowm)

- Give level information some more space in sidebar (fabi)

- Planning mode attacks are still "borked" -- not my words. ;) We don't really have a plan to go about this though, so unless somebody can step up and do something about this, we either need to ship 1.12.0 with broken planning mode or disable planning mode.
