Hi Jackson,

I agree with you abolutely. Very important ideas have been share in this forum.
We really need to find a way to capture such ideas and channel them into the
decsion making process. This requires some agreement on strategy and tactics.
If we do not position ourselves strategically our voices will just evaporate in
thin air and things will remain the same.

One person i have worked with and i know he is action oriented and gifted in
documentation is engineer Patrick Okuni. I would like to suggest that we ask
him to summarise the discussions we have been having on some of the key issues
and share them with us all. On the basis of the out come, we can roceed to take
another step to refine, agregate, articulate and channel the ideas into the
decsion making organs in the region.

I also agree that we should come up with some sort of name or lable as an
identity in order to claim integrity and legitimise the authorial voice. I
would like to suggest we call ourselves WestNile Global Forum for Development
(WGFD) so that it encapasses the global character of the forum and and its
focus on development. I would be glad if some one could support my proposal.

Thank you.

Translating & Coordinating our Ideas/Ideals/Vision

Ladies and gentlemen,

We have a lot of very constructive ideas as I have seen on this forum. However,
we need to coordinate or transform these ideas into some constructive format.
As professionals, our vision, dreams, Ideas/ideals can be better delivered if
we organize them  into a usable format.

For instance, we had a lot of discussion on Barifa Forest, Matego District,
Electricity.  How do we get these ideas to the Local Councils, Munical council
, RC/LC, Mayor or Town Clerk?  Who  can represent our voices? The ideas poured
on the net were very brilliant. It will be futile if we do not pass these ideas
in the hands of the local authorities. If we are going to be a constructive
think tank for our communities, we seriously need to have a plan on how to
communicate our ideas to the local administrators.

Most of us are scatered all over the surface of the globe, I believe this net
is  a perfect tool for voicing our opinions. Without these ideas reaching the
people who implemnt policies in West Nile Region, are we honestly trying to
solve any problem(s) or bring any change(s)?

I would like to suggest/recommend  we should organize ourselves as " a body
with a name". Whatever name people propose/suggest we can discuss it. For
instance, The Task Force was formed in response to poor performance in schools.
They are working towards a spefic goal. Do we want to continue to exist as a
reactive problem solvers or we had better exist as proactive problem solvers? I
thiink we should catch on the fire from the TF?

Bwana Afi

Over to you with Congo's suggestion - since you have two legs (West Nile and
Kampala). You could pass by the Arua Municipal Council offices and get the
proposed layout for the area. I am aware ndugu Findru was working on this
around the end of last year.

Colleagues: Sorry for coming up late on this issue - I'm one of those guilty of
the tort well described by counsel Alaka below, regarding this network.. We
sure can contribute in a constructive way in guiding the rational and
transparent apportioning of the famoun piese of properety.

Best...

Folks,

I look at this proposal of Alaka with interest though I am not fully a
political animal. For those in my category I suggest we begin a registration
desk for the Barifa Forest plots and hand over the list to Arua Town Clerk and
our good friend Mayor Charles Asiki so that we seriously take charge of the
planned development of that particular part of West Nile that could serve as a
module for other towns in the region. I saw some communication on West NileNet
on this subject but it seems to have phased out.

I propose one of the engineers in our community of West NileNet takes the task
of getting the proposed plan for the development of the area and inform members
on details of the plans (Residential, School, Restaurant, recreation, health
centre etc) and then cause folks to register as a group or individuals in
particular project they wish to pick on and then we move as a group to secure
the plots after the registration of interests.

I propose Eng. Patrick Okuni and Caleb Alaka for the task of leading us in this
proposal.

Jimmy

Folks,

Arua or W/Nile is a tragicomedy. We thank the Almighty God that we now have
this Forum which acts as a catharsis for us and has tickled us to become
conscious about our cherished W/ Nile . Initially, we were all guilty of the
tort of Neglecting, abandoning, turning our backs  and dereliction of duty
towards West Nile . As a result for almost two decades, we have never
influenced events in W/Nile despite our heavy intellectual and material
achievements. Talk of W/Nile Chamber of Commerce, LC5's, LCIII's and LCI
chairpersons in W/Nile, they are mostly headed by charlatans, criminals, thugs,
crooks, and invent any derogatory superlative it will define them. Now that we
are a force, I believe we shall cause several changes in W/Nile. Atama Majid
Junior, don't feel offended as one of the LC5 chairpersons from W/Nile is my
uncle.
