Alemi,

I scanned those lists too and frankly i was left with a saddened soul. These
are the issues we should be focusing our efforts on discussing in detail
rather that all the negative energy i have been seeing on the net recently
which border on something as basic as lack of tolerance of divergent
opinions and a sheer lack of emotional control.

Surely, with the increase in tuition fees coming up, even the few sons and
daughters of West Nile who may make it to the private sponsorship scheme may
fail to take up the admissions. Many times those who actually make it to the
private admission lists are the brothers and sisters who have studied in
schools around here!!

This is going to take a protracted struggle to re-visit and re-energize our
education strategies right from the grass roots. The time is now and this can
be done through the efforts of organizations such as MOSA, SJOCOBA and
others. If the bigger body is not making headway soon enough, we should
rally behind the efforts of the OB's and OG's associations, some of whom are
already doing some commendable job on the ground. It is the harnessing of
these efforts that will enable us make tangible contributions in the short
to medium term as we mobilize at the broader West Nile level. Otherwise, i
dare say that we are facing a dark period now.
