These commends may be late but worth mentioning
- Deforestation Of West Nile which needs urgent govenment intervention in places like Maracha, Terego Aiivu, etc, where it's becoming even difficult to find firewood for cooking - The plight of teachers in the region or Uganda needs urgent government intervention. Teachers' salaries are too low , paid often late. Many teachers are almost giving up their jobs because they have to feed their families. Government should focus on improving the condition of teachers in order to improve performance in schools. - Poor performance in schools dues to lack of basic necessities, over crowding. If the teacher pupil ratio is 70/teacher or 80/teacher or 90/teacher, how can teachers help children who are week in class or have learning disabilities? - Unfair marketing practices by the tobacco companies which exploit farmers for their produce, transporting farmers in lorries, which are unsafe for any public transport. One can quote the accident that happned last year where several farmers died and yet their families were not compensated. This situation has gone unchallenged for several decades. - Lack of electricity leading to poor development of cottage industries that could create jobs for people in the region. - High unemployment rate in the region or Uganda for that matter. May be government should facilitate or focus on improving the private sector in order to create jobs. Recruit and train young men and women with skills to own and run small bsuinesses.
